Two of Ghana's most celebrated footballers, brothers André Ayew and Jordan Ayew, are both without clubs after their contracts expired on June 30, making them free agents simultaneously for the first time in their professional careers.

Jordan, 34, officially parted ways with Leicester City F.C. at the end of the 2025/26 season. The experienced forward recently captained Ghana at the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the United States, featuring in all four matches before the Black Stars were eliminated in the Round of 32 following a narrow 1-0 defeat to Colombia national football team. Jhon Arias scored the decisive first-half goal that ended Ghana's campaign.

Despite his leadership role, Jordan's performances sparked mixed reactions. Among his critics was former Nii Kwartei Titus Glover, who argued that the veteran striker's time with the Black Stars had come to an end.

Speaking on Channel TV, Glover said Jordan had "outlived his stay" with the national team, claiming the forward lacked the pace and sharpness needed at the highest level.

"Jordan Ayew has outlived his stay, and he can only play 20 to 25 minutes. He holds onto the ball too much, and he is so slow. As a striker, you don't hold onto the ball too much. With air balls and ground balls, you should be quick," he said.

Glover further insisted the experienced attacker should have been limited to a substitute role during the tournament to give younger players more opportunities.

"Jordan Ayew was a disaster, and he should have played a maximum of 20 minutes and allowed the young players to feature," he added.
