Saudi boxing chief Turki Alalshikh has revealed that a long-awaited heavyweight showdown between Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua could take place at Wembley Stadium, provided British authorities approve a late-night start to suit a global television audience.
Alalshikh said discussions would be held with London officials, including Mayor Sir Sadiq Khan, to seek permission for the bout to begin as late as 4:00 a.m. GMT, allowing it to air during prime-time in the United States.
“We want the fight in England, but we also want a time that works for viewers around the world, especially in America,” Alalshikh said. “If Wembley can host the event late at night, then England is our preferred venue.”
A spokesperson for the Mayor of London welcomed the possibility of bringing another major boxing event to the capital, highlighting Wembley Stadium’s history of hosting record-breaking heavyweight fights, though no commitment was made regarding a late start time.
Before a potential November showdown, both fighters are scheduled to return to the ring later this month. Fury is set to face Mariusz Wach in Thailand on July 24, while Joshua takes on Kristian Prenga in Riyadh a day later.
