Sunderland forward Nilson Angulo has been included in Ecuador’s squad for the 2026 World Cup in the United States, Canada and Mexico.

The 22-year-old, who joined the Black Cats from Anderlecht in the January transfer window, has earned 12 international caps and will make his first World Cup appearance at the tournament.

Chelsea midfielder Moisés Caicedo and Arsenal defender Piero Hincapié are also part of the squad and will feature at a second consecutive World Cup, while veteran striker Enner Valencia leads the line as captain and all-time top scorer with 49 goals in 105 appearances.

Former West Ham and Everton forward Valencia, now 36, will be playing at his third World Cup. The squad also includes AC Milan defender Pervis Estupiñán and Chelsea youngster Kendry Páez, currently on loan at River Plate.

Ecuador, who reached the round of 16 in 2006, are in Group E and begin their campaign against Ivory Coast on 15 June, before facing Curacao and Germany in their remaining group matches.
