Brazilian football legend Romario has named France as the best team in the world, despite praising Brazil's impressive performances at the ongoing FIFA World Cup.

Speaking to RMC Sport, the 60-year-old said he has been impressed by Brazil's progress in the tournament but believes France remain the strongest side.

"I was very happy to play in the 1994 FIFA World Cup in the United States. Now I'm excited to be back here and to see how much the Brazilian team has improved," Romario said.

"The French team also impressed me a lot. In my opinion, they are currently the best team in the world."

Both France and Brazil have progressed to the Round of 32 and are among the favourites to challenge for the 2026 FIFA World Cup title.
