Ståle Solbakken has criticised Scotland head coach Steve Clarke as “unprofessional” after a planned training-ground friendly between the two nations was cancelled.
The match, scheduled for Monday in North Carolina as both teams prepare for the World Cup, was called off after Scotland reported injury concerns within their squad.
Clarke later explained that the game was intended to be a one-hour training exercise and that the decision was made to avoid further risk after a number of players picked up minor knocks.
However, Solbakken expressed his frustration following Norway’s 1-1 draw with Morocco, describing the cancellation as “surprising.”
“It is unprofessional of Scotland,” he told Norwegian broadcaster NRK. “It is unprofessional that the coach has not called me directly and that the message came through the team manager after we had finished training.”
The incident has created tension between the two managers ahead of the World Cup, with Norway unhappy over the way the cancellation was communicated.
