Rory McIlroy says he will continue to “pick and choose” his PGA Tour schedule, insisting the flexibility helps him maintain balance in his life.
The six-time major champion has become more selective in recent seasons, playing just twice since winning the Masters in April.
McIlroy acknowledged the trade-off, saying his approach may make it harder to chase season-long honours such as the FedExCup, but he is comfortable prioritising his wellbeing and life outside golf.
“I’ve been doing this a long time… I’ll pick and choose my spots like I have been doing,” said the Northern Irishman, joking that he now feels like a “part-timer”.
He returns to action at this week’s Memorial Tournament, an event he admits he would love to win, alongside the Genesis Invitational, describing both as key targets in his career.
