Keegan Reveals Stage Four Cancer Diagnosis

0

Former England captain and manager Kevin Keegan has revealed he is battling stage four cancer.

The 75-year-old said the diagnosis was discovered after he underwent scans linked to an operation following a car accident, with further tests confirming the advanced stage of the disease, which means it has spread to other parts of the body.

Keegan’s family first disclosed his cancer battle in January after he was admitted to hospital for further evaluation of ongoing abdominal symptoms. He has since been receiving treatment.

In a recent public appearance at an event in Newcastle, the former striker received a standing ovation as he updated fans on his condition.

“I’m still here at the moment,” Keegan said, reflecting on his diagnosis and treatment journey.

One of English football’s most iconic figures, Keegan starred for Liverpool, Hamburg, Southampton, and Newcastle as a player, and later managed England, Manchester City, Fulham and Newcastle.

Newcastle United and the wider football community have sent messages of support, with the club describing him as a “cherished” figure and wishing him strength for the road ahead.
