Uruguay have named Manchester United midfielder Manuel Ugarte in their 2026 World Cup squad, while veteran striker Luis Suárez has been left out of Marcelo Bielsa’s final 26-man selection.
Ugarte is among three Premier League players included for the tournament in North America, alongside Wolves defender Santiago Bueno and Tottenham midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur.
However, Suárez, 39, who had recently hinted at a possible international return after a 20-month absence, has not been recalled by Bielsa.
Former Liverpool and Barcelona forward Darwin Núñez is included in the squad despite limited club action in recent months.
Uruguay will compete in Group H, opening their campaign against Saudi Arabia on 15 June, before facing Cape Verde and Spain.
The squad features a strong mix of European-based and South American talent, with key names such as Federico Valverde, Ronald Araújo, and Bentancur all included.
