Tottenham close to signing Andy Robertson after Liverpool exit

Tottenham are close to agreeing a deal for Scotland full-back Andy Robertson following his departure from Liverpool.

The 32-year-old played his final game for Liverpool against Brentford on Sunday after confirming he will leave the club when his contract expires this summer.

While final details are still being resolved, an agreement is understood to be in place in principle between Robertson and Spurs.

Tottenham had previously targeted Robertson during the January transfer window under former manager Thomas Frank. A deal between the clubs had been agreed at the time, but Liverpool withdrew after failing to recall Kostas Tsimikas from his loan spell at Roma.

Spurs secured Premier League survival on the final day of the season with victory over Everton under new manager Roberto De Zerbi.

Robertson leaves Liverpool after a hugely successful spell at Anfield, making 378 appearances and winning two Premier League titles as well as the Champions League.

The experienced defender has also earned 92 caps for Scotland and is set to captain his country at this summer’s World Cup.
