Nigeria Professional Football League has issued a strong warning to clubs over possible points deductions following repeated fixture violations in the ongoing season. The league management says teams that fail to comply with scheduling rules, match protocols, and approved venues risk heavy sanctions as part of efforts to maintain order and fairness in the competition.
According to the league body, several clubs have been found guilty of altering match arrangements without proper approval, including late changes to venues and failure to meet kickoff regulations. Officials say such actions disrupt the integrity of the league and affect broadcast, security, and match coordination plans.
The NPFL stressed that while it is committed to improving professionalism in Nigerian football, clubs must also adhere strictly to regulations. It added that disciplinary measures, including fines and points deductions, will be enforced if violations continue.
The warning is part of broader reforms aimed at strengthening league governance, improving matchday standards, and boosting the credibility of domestic football in Nigeria.
