The Nigeria Table Tennis Federation has received a major boost following equipment support from China-based sports manufacturer Wang Kai Table Tennis during the 2026 WTT Contender Lagos.
The company donated rubbers, blades, balls and other table tennis equipment as part of efforts to aid player development in Nigeria and across Africa.
Speaking during the presentation ceremony, WKTT representative Vera Ruijia Zhao described Nigeria as a country blessed with immense table tennis talent, highlighting the achievements of stars like Quadri Aruna and Olajide Omotayo.
Zhao stressed the importance of quality equipment in developing young talents, noting that players cannot properly begin their careers without the necessary tools.
She also revealed plans to strengthen sporting ties between China and Africa through invitational tournaments that would provide African players with greater exposure and opportunities to improve their skills against international opponents.
According to her, several young Nigerian players impressed observers during the tournament, with some as young as 10 and 11 years old already competing strongly against elite players from around the world.
