Newly appointed head coaches of Nigeria’s youth national teams have begun the rebuilding process ahead of upcoming international competitions, as both the Flying Eagles and Golden Eaglets confirm their assistant coaching staff.

For the Nigeria national under-20 football team, head coach Abdu Maikaba has selected Ortega Deniran as first assistant coach, Abdullahi Biffo as second assistant, and Usman Mohammed as goalkeeper trainer. Maikaba, who previously served in the Flying Eagles set-up and has also managed several top Nigerian clubs, has now finalised his backroom team as preparations intensify.

The Flying Eagles are scheduled to resume camp in Abuja on Sunday ahead of the WAFU B U-20 Boys Championship in July. The tournament will serve as the qualification pathway for the next Africa U-20 Cup of Nations. Nigeria, seven-time winners of the continental competition, will be aiming to return to dominance at youth level.

In the U-17 category, the Nigeria national under-17 football team (Golden Eaglets) have also confirmed their technical crew. Head coach Eboboritse Uwejamomere has appointed Olumide Ajibolade as first assistant, Mohammed Kachala as second assistant, and Abdullahi Isa as goalkeeper trainer.

The Golden Eaglets are being rebuilt with a long-term focus on returning to the FIFA U-17 World Cup, where Nigeria remains the most successful nation with five titles. They will compete in the WAFU B U-17 Boys Championship in September, which serves as the qualifying tournament for the Africa U-17 Cup of Nations.

With both teams now assembling their technical structures, attention turns to preparation, scouting, and player selection as Nigeria looks to restore its strength across youth football competitions.
