Former Super Eagles winger Victor Moses has revealed that he initially did not take Chelsea F.C.’s offer seriously, admitting he thought the approach was a “joke” when it first arrived.
Moses, who eventually went on to enjoy a successful spell at Stamford Bridge, said the move came as a surprise at the time, given the level of competition and the uncertainty surrounding his role in the squad.
What followed, however, turned into one of the most defining chapters of his career. Initially signed as a winger, he was later reinvented under different tactical systems and became a key figure in Chelsea’s setup, particularly during their title-winning campaigns.
His time at Chelsea saw him adapt into a more defensive wing-back role, a transformation that helped him contribute significantly to the team’s success and earn silverware at the highest level of English football.
Looking back, Moses says the experience taught him the importance of adaptability, resilience, and staying open to unexpected opportunities in football.
