José Mourinho has dismissed speculation linking him with a return to Real Madrid CF, insisting the club have not contacted him over the managerial position.
Current Real Madrid boss Álvaro Arbeloa is reportedly under pressure after a second consecutive season without major silverware.
Los Blancos sit 11 points behind FC Barcelona in La Liga with five matches remaining, and were knocked out of the UEFA Champions League by FC Bayern Munich in the quarter-finals.
“No one from Real Madrid has spoken to me. I can guarantee that,” Mourinho told reporters.
“I’ve been in football for many years and I’m used to these rumours, but there’s nothing from Real Madrid.
“I still have one year left on my contract with S.L. Benfica, and that’s all.”
