Chelsea F.C. interim boss Calum McFarlane has played down concerns over Enzo Fernández’s recent trip to Madrid during the club’s short break.

The midfielder travelled to Spain with teammates Marc Cucurella and João Pedro, where they attended the Madrid Open and were spotted interacting with Jude Bellingham, fuelling speculation online.

Fernández’s visit came during a three-day break granted to the Chelsea squad.

McFarlane, however, insisted there was no issue with the players’ trip, stressing it reflects strong squad unity rather than distraction.

“We gave the lads three days off, and I think it says a lot about the group that they go away together,” he said.

“I love the fact that they spend time together. They’ve gone to Madrid to watch tennis, so I don’t see an issue with it, honestly.

“He did the same thing last year during a break as well. I think it’s a positive sign for the unity within the group.”
