Heart of Midlothian F.C. have strongly criticised recent comments describing supporters’ behaviour as “irresponsible” following a pitch invasion incident.
The Scottish club pushed back against the remarks, insisting they do not fairly reflect the conduct or intentions of their fanbase. Hearts stated that while they acknowledge the need for safety and proper regulation at matches, they believe the criticism unfairly generalises supporters and ignores the positive role fans play in the game.
The club also emphasised that security and matchday management should be a shared responsibility between authorities, organisers, and clubs, rather than placing blame solely on supporters. They called for a more balanced approach in discussing crowd control issues in football.
Hearts added that they remain committed to working with relevant bodies to ensure safe environments at matches while maintaining a strong and passionate supporter culture.
