Gerwyn Price has proposed a bold shake-up to the Premier League Darts format, suggesting the introduction of a WWE-style “Royal Rumble” event to make the tournament more exciting and unpredictable.
The Welsh star wants the current structure to be tweaked back toward the older 10-player format, where competitors face one match per night in the early phase before progressing through elimination stages. But his standout idea is a new weekly “Royal Rumble” game added into each night’s schedule.
In his concept, 16 players (including top-ranked stars and high-order-merit challengers) would compete in a rotating survival-style contest. The winner would “stay on” and face a surprise new opponent the following week, with entrances announced dramatically like in wrestling.
Price believes this twist would add extra entertainment, mystery, and fan engagement to the Premier League, while also rewarding consistency with prize money and even a special “belt” for the overall Rumble winner.
