Celtic FC interim head coach, Martin O’Neill, has revealed that the club is yet to make a decision on the future of Nigerian striker Kelechi Iheanacho, DAILY POST reports.
Iheanacho joined the Hoops on a free transfer last summer after leaving Sevilla FC.
The 29-year-old endured an injury-hit start to life at Celtic Park, raising doubts over his long-term future at the club.
However, the forward has returned to fitness at a crucial stage of the campaign as Celtic continue their push to successfully defend their league title.
Iheanacho came off the bench to score the winner in Celtic’s 2-1 victory over Hibernian FC at Easter Road on Sunday.
The former Manchester City FC striker has now scored seven goals for the Scottish Premiership champions this season.
Speaking after the match, O’Neill stressed that Iheanacho’s fitness remains the club’s main priority.
“That’s a conversation for another day. Right now, his fitness is the most important thing, and he has to keep proving that he’s fit on the field,” O’Neill said.
