Andrés Iniesta is set to begin his managerial career after reportedly agreeing to become the new head coach of Gulf United FC in Dubai.
According to reports from transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the former FC Barcelona midfielder has reached an agreement with the club, with official signatures expected soon.
Gulf United, founded in 2019, currently compete in the UAE First Division after securing back-to-back promotions in 2022 and 2023. However, the club endured a difficult campaign this season, sitting 10th in the 15-team league table with just 25 points from 26 matches.
Iniesta now faces the challenge of rebuilding the team and improving results as he takes on his first senior coaching role following a legendary playing career that included multiple league titles, Champions League trophies and World Cup success with Spain national football team.
