Álvaro Arbeloa has confirmed he will leave his coaching role at Real Madrid CF at the end of the season following a trophyless campaign.
Speaking ahead of the club’s final La Liga match against Athletic Club, Arbeloa acknowledged reports linking José Mourinho with a return to the Santiago Bernabéu but ruled out any possibility of joining his coaching staff.
The former Real Madrid defender, who was appointed earlier in the season, said he respects Mourinho’s setup and expects the Portuguese coach to arrive with his own technical team if he is reappointed.
Arbeloa’s departure comes after a difficult season for Los Blancos, with the club failing to win any major silverware. His exit marks another major change as Real Madrid prepare for a possible managerial reshuffle ahead of the new campaign.
