Marie-Louise Eta has made history after being appointed head coach of Union Berlin, becoming the first woman to manage a men’s team in one of Europe’s top leagues.
She takes over on an interim basis after the club sacked Steffen Baumgart following poor results.
Union Berlin are currently mid-table in the Bundesliga but have struggled for form, winning only a few games recently.
Eta, who was already part of the coaching staff, now faces the challenge of helping the team stay safe and finish the season strongly.
