Gout Gout has run the 200m faster than sprint legend Usain Bolt did at the same age, showing his huge potential.
The 18-year-old clocked an outstanding 19.67 seconds at the national championships in Sydney, officially breaking the 20-second barrier for the first time in his career.
This time is faster than Bolt’s 19.93 when he was 18 and is currently the fastest 200m time in the world this year. Another Australian, Aidan Murphy, also impressed by running under 20 seconds in the same race.
Gout has been rising quickly in athletics, after setting records as a younger teenager, and is now being seen as one of the sport’s brightest future stars. He plans to focus on the World Under-20 Championships as he continues his development.
