Tottenham Hotspur are in advanced talks to sign Andrew Robertson on a free transfer this summer after his exit from Liverpool.
Robertson recently confirmed he will leave Liverpool when his contract expires, bringing an end to a successful nine-year spell at Anfield where he became one of the top left-backs in Europe. Spurs have admired the Scotland captain for a long time and even tried to sign him in January, but Liverpool refused to let him go mid-season.
Now, with Robertson available for free, Tottenham are pushing to complete the deal. The club wants to bring in experienced players to strengthen the squad ahead of manager Roberto De Zerbi’s first full season in charge, and they see Robertson as a key addition both on and off the pitch.
However, the move is not fully done yet and could depend on Tottenham’s Premier League status. The club is currently in the relegation zone and must avoid dropping down, as that could affect their chances of completing the signing.
In a separate concern for Spurs, captain Cristian Romero is set for medical tests after picking up a knee injury in their recent defeat. A serious injury could rule him out for the rest of the season and potentially impact his international future with Argentina.
