Ben Stokes says talk of a rift with Brendon McCullum is exaggerated, but admits he must work with the coach in a slightly different way.
During the Ashes series, Stokes and McCullum seemed to have different approaches—Stokes wanted players to be more patient, while McCullum preferred aggressive play.
Stokes explained they still agree most of the time and can talk through any differences, stressing they both want the team to succeed. He said there was no serious conflict, just small differences in opinion.
England and Wales Cricket Board director Rob Key also confirmed there was no “bust-up,” and both Stokes and McCullum will remain in their roles.
Despite recent mixed results, Stokes said he believes strongly in their partnership and hopes they continue working together successfully until 2027.
