Lawrence Okolie’s heavyweight fight with Tony Yoka has been cancelled after the Briton failed a pre-fight doping test.
The bout, scheduled to take place in Paris, was called off after the Voluntary Anti-Doping Association reported an adverse finding from a test conducted ahead of the event. As a result, promoters confirmed the entire fight night would not go ahead.
Okolie, a former world champion who recently moved up to heavyweight, said the failed test may be linked to medical treatment he received for an elbow injury sustained during training. He urged people not to jump to conclusions and said he will fully cooperate with the investigation.
The 33-year-old remains unbeaten in his three heavyweight fights so far and had been set for a high-profile clash against Olympic champion Yoka before the cancellation.
