England got an important win over world champions Spain to take control of their 2027 Women’s World Cup qualifying group.
In a big clash between two top European teams, Lauren Hemp scored early at Wembley to give England the lead, and they defended well to keep Spain from scoring.
Spain had more of the ball and created chances, but couldn’t beat goalkeeper Hannah Hampton, while England also missed a few chances in the second half.
The win keeps England top of the group with a perfect record after three games, putting them in a strong position to qualify for the World Cup in Brazil.
