Massimo De Lutiis has ended talk of a move to Ireland by signing a new three-year deal with Australia and the Queensland Reds.
The 22-year-old tight-head prop, who had been linked with Ulster Rugby, has now committed his future to Australia until 2029. He said the decision was not easy, admitting he spent weeks thinking it through before choosing to stay.
De Lutiis explained that family support and the chance to play at a home World Cup were major reasons behind his choice. He also said he now feels relieved and can fully focus on his development over the next few years.
Although he is yet to make his Test debut for Australia, De Lutiis has already shown promise at club level, making several appearances for the Reds. He is currently sidelined with a hamstring injury but is still seen as an important figure in the squad, with coaches confident he will continue to improve.
