Ben White has been called back into the England football squad for the first time since 2022. The 27-year-old had previously left the camp during the 2022 World Cup for personal reasons and had kept himself out of Gareth Southgate’s squads since then.
White replaces Jarell Quansah, who withdrew with a thigh injury, in Thomas Tuchel’s 35-man squad for friendlies against Uruguay (27 March) and Japan (31 March) at Wembley.
Despite limited Premier League action this season, with just seven appearances for Arsenal, White has been involved in eight of their 10 Champions League matches and started in Sunday’s 2-0 Carabao Cup final defeat to Manchester City. Meanwhile, Real Madrid’s Trent Alexander-Arnold missed out on the squad again.
