
Sporting staged a stunning comeback to end Bodo/Glimt’s historic Champions League run, overturning a three-goal first-leg deficit to reach the quarter-finals for the first time.
Bodo/Glimt, the first Norwegian team to reach the knockouts on their debut, had beaten last year’s finalists Inter Milanand won the first leg 3-0. But in Portugal, Sporting dominated, with goals from Goncalo Inacio, Pedro Goncalves, Luis Suarez (penalty), Maxi Araujo, and Rafael Nel sealing the dramatic win after extra time.
The comeback ended Bodo/Glimt’s fairytale run, leaving the Portuguese side through to the quarter-finals.
