Michael Olise stole the spotlight as Bayern Munich thrashed Atalanta in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 tie, with Harry Kane on the bench due to a calf injury.
Bayern didn’t need Kane as they raced into a commanding lead. Olise played a key role in the first three goals. His quick corner set up Serge Gnabry, who found Josip Stanisic to score the opener in the 12th minute. Ten minutes later, Olise scored himself with a curling shot, then assisted Gnabry again to make it 3-0.
Nicolas Jackson and Jamal Musiala added more goals, with Olise scoring a second, giving Bayern six by the 67th minute. Mario Pasalic scored a late goal for Atalanta, making it 6-1.
The win extended Bayern’s unbeaten away run to nine games and gave them a strong advantage ahead of the return leg at Allianz Arena on 18 March.
