Manchester City F.C. midfielder Rodri has been fined £80,000 after criticising referee Robert Jones following a Premier League draw with Tottenham Hotspur F.C..
Rodri said the referee was not “neutral” after Tottenham’s equalising goal was allowed to stand in the 2-2 match. The The Football Association charged him with improper conduct for comments that appeared to question the integrity of match officials.
The Spain international later admitted the charge and apologised, saying his words were spoken out of frustration and were “poorly chosen.”
