Manchester City’s season faces a crisis after a tough Champions League exit at the hands of Real Madrid.
City were knocked out by Real for the third straight season, losing 5-1 on aggregate. Federico Valverde scored a first-leg hat-trick, and Vinicius Junior added two in the return at Etihad Stadium, with Bernardo Silva’s red card making a comeback impossible.
Manager Pep Guardiola said it was tough playing with 10 men but praised his squad: “We have an extraordinary team… the future is bright. It’s a learning curve.”
City now look to bounce back in the Carabao Cup final against Arsenal, knowing another defeat could make the season even harder.
