Bodo/Glimt’s dream run in the Champions League came to an end, but the Norwegian side made history with their debut season.
The team, playing in freezing conditions north of the Arctic Circle, surprised many by reaching the knockout stage, beating teams like Manchester City, Atletico Madrid, and Inter Milan along the way.
However, after winning 3-0 in the first leg against Sporting, they suffered a stunning 5-0 home defeat in Portugal, going out 5-3 on aggregate. Boss Kjetil Knutsen admitted: “We played the occasion, not the game… Sporting didn’t care about anything, while we overthought it from the first touch.”
