Hull City boosted their Championship play-off hopes with a crucial win over Wrexham at Stok Cae Ras.
Joe Gelhardt opened the scoring with a stunning free-kick, his 13th league goal of the season, though he missed a penalty just minutes later. Hull doubled their lead in the 63rd minute when Lewis Koumas headed home his third goal since joining on loan from Liverpool. Nathan Broadhead pulled one back for Wrexham, but the hosts couldn’t find an equaliser, and Hull held on for the win.
The victory keeps Hull fifth in the table, nine points clear of seventh-placed Derby County, while Wrexham remain sixth, three points ahead of Derby. Hull dominated much of the game, with Wrexham struggling to create chances despite a late surge.
