Donald Trump said Iran’s men’s team is welcome at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, but he believes it may not be appropriate for safety reasons.
The tournament will be hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico. However, Iran’s participation is uncertain after recent conflict involving Israel, which has raised security concerns about the team’s safety during the tournament.
Iran’s sports minister has also said the country may not be in a position to take part, meaning FIFA could choose a replacement team if they withdraw.
