The discussion started after an unusual moment before Chelsea’s 1-0 Premier League defeat to Newcastle United, when referee Paul Tierney was standing over the ball while Chelsea players gathered around him for captain Reece James to give a team talk.
Match officials had reportedly warned Chelsea not to gather around the ball before kick-off because it could cause confrontation with the opposing team.
Rosenior said the issue has been overblown by the media, stressing the huddle is simply meant to show unity among the players.
Chelsea will decide whether to change the location of the huddle before their UEFA Champions League match against Paris Saint-Germain.
Former assistant referee Darren Cann said the incident was something he had never seen in 50 years of watching football.
