Kimi Antonelli takes his second straight win and becomes the youngest leader in the world championship after a safety-car period in the Japanese Grand Prix gave him a lucky advantage.
At 19, Antonelli avoided an early pit stop while rivals Oscar Piastri and George Russell had already pitted. When Oliver Bearman crashed heavily, Antonelli’s pit stop cost him less time, securing the victory.
Russell, finishing fourth behind Piastri and Charles Leclerc, called it “unbelievable” over the radio. Antonelli now leads the championship by nine points over his teammate, making history as the youngest ever championship leader.
