Premier League strugglers Wolves edged past Grimsby Town in tough, muddy conditions at Blundell Park to reach the FA Cup fifth round.
The only goal came just after the hour mark when Santiago Bueno turned in a cross from Joao Gomes with his thigh — Wolves’ only shot on target.
Heavy rain left the pitch in terrible condition, making it hard for both teams to play proper football. Grimsby, from League Two, started brightly and created early chances, but couldn’t find a goal.
Wolves had a free-kick hit the crossbar and survived late pressure, with goalkeeper Sam Johnstone making a key save and Bueno blocking a final effort to avoid extra time.
In the end, Wolves did just enough to go through to the next round.
