Vinicius had been in the spotlight after claiming he was racially abused in the first leg. Home fans showed support with a “no to racism” banner before kick-off.
Benfica took an early lead through Rafa Silva, but Aurelien Tchouameni quickly equalised with his first Champions League goal. With Kylian Mbappe injured, Real needed a big moment — and Vinicius delivered, scoring late to seal a 3-1 aggregate win.
Real Madrid will now face either Manchester City or Sporting in the next round.
