Manchester United say sacking Ruben Amorim could cost the club nearly £16m.
The Portuguese manager was dismissed on 5 January after publicly criticising the club’s hierarchy following a 1-1 draw with Leeds.
In a financial filing, Manchester United revealed they had written off £6.3m related to bringing Amorim from Sporting in November 2024. They also set aside up to £15.9m to cover potential payments to Amorim and his coaching staff.
The exact conditions for the full payout were not detailed, but sources say it is linked to future employment.
