Wayne Rooney says Liverpool striker Alexander Isak might have reason to worry about Hugo Ekitike’s impressive form. The 23-year-old France forward scored twice as Liverpool came from behind to beat Newcastle, bringing his season tally to 15 goals in 32 games.
Ekitike, who joined Liverpool for £69m from Eintracht Frankfurt, has built a strong partnership with fellow summer signing Florian Wirtz. Rooney says this leaves questions about where Isak, who cost a British record £125m and is returning from a broken leg, will fit in.
Rooney added that Ekitike is versatile, drifting wide, linking play, and scoring goals, making him a real threat for Liverpool.
