Former Great Britain sprinter Reece Prescod has hinted he may be willing to use performance-enhancing drugs for the controversial Enhanced Games, saying he is “not against it” if it helps improve his performance.
Prescod, who retired last August after competing at three World Championships and the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, said he is curious to see how fast he could run with extra help. The Enhanced Games allow athletes, under medical supervision, to use drugs that are banned in normal sports competitions.
Although he previously told the BBC he would not take performance-enhancing drugs, Prescod has now changed his position while speaking at an Enhanced Games training camp in Abu Dhabi, ahead of the first event in Las Vegas in May.
He said he plans to speak with doctors before making a final decision but admitted he is open to using drugs if they help him “reach the next level”. Prescod added that his goal is to run as fast as possible and push his body to its limits.
