Mikaela Shiffrin strengthened her legacy by winning Olympic slalom gold in dominant style, finishing 1.50 seconds clear of the field.
Twelve years after her first Olympic slalom title in Sochi 2014, the 30-year-old American claimed her third Olympic gold medal with two superb runs in Cortina. She had led after the first run and sealed victory comfortably in the second.
Camille Rast of Switzerland took silver, while Sweden’s Anna Swenn Larsson earned bronze.
After previous Olympic disappointments, including crashing out in Beijing 2022, Shiffrin finally returned to the top step of the podium in emphatic fashion.
