Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner says Jean-Philippe Mateta’s knee injury, which halted his £30m move to AC Milan, could also put his World Cup hopes at risk. The 28-year-old striker has struggled with a right knee issue this season, and while he has been able to play in most games, medical concerns ended the Milan transfer.
Glasner explained there are two options: manage the knee until after the World Cup, Mateta’s “dream,” or undergo surgery, which could sideline him for months. Mateta previously ruptured his meniscus in 2019, missing about six months, showing the injury could have serious consequences with the tournament just four months away.
