Crystal Palace striker Jean-Philippe Mateta’s move to AC Milan is now in serious doubt after problems were found during his medical. The 28-year-old France forward has been struggling with a knee issue and needed extra tests after his initial medical.
Because of this, AC Milan are likely to pull out of the £30m deal, even though Mateta wants to leave Palace. The club had only allowed him to go after agreeing a £48m deal to sign Wolves striker Jorgen Strand Larsen as his replacement.
Nottingham Forest were also interested in Mateta, but Palace rejected a £35m offer last week. Palace manager Oliver Glasner admitted the situation is difficult with the transfer window nearly closed and said losing Mateta without a replacement would be a bad outcome.
Meanwhile, Wolves are close to signing Southampton striker Adam Armstrong for £7m to replace Strand Larsen. Palace are also showing late interest in Everton winger Dwight McNeil, who is valued at around £20m.
