Haji Wright scored a hat-trick as Coventry City returned to the top of the Championship with a 3-1 win over Middlesbrough.
Wright, who had only two goals in his previous 19 games, opened the scoring in the first half, added a second 10 minutes after the break, and converted a penalty shortly after a handball. Riley McGree had pulled one back for Boro, but Coventry held on to reclaim first place, one point above their opponents.
The victory ended Middlesbrough’s run of six consecutive wins and extended their losing streak against Coventry to seven games. Wright’s return to form was crucial after a winter dip in scoring, helping Frank Lampard’s side regain momentum in the title race.
