Tony Docherty has returned to Aberdeen FC to assist interim boss Peter Leven until the summer, as the club prepares for a permanent managerial appointment.
Docherty, 55, previously spent eight years at Pittodrie under Derek McInnes and has also managed Dundee FC and Ross County. Sporting director Lutz Pfannenstiel said Docherty’s experience and knowledge of the Scottish Premiership will be invaluable during the interim period.
Aberdeen are in advanced talks with Norwegian coach Eirik Horneland, who could take over permanently in the summer, mirroring a previous delayed managerial arrival at the club.
