Burnley fans may have feared the worst when their team bus got stuck in traffic on the way to Selhurst Park, delaying their Premier League game against Crystal Palace. The Clarets, second-bottom in the table and without a win in their last 16 league games, looked set for another heavy defeat after Jorgen Strand Larsen scored twice to put Palace 2-0 up before half-time.
But Burnley produced an incredible comeback. Hannibal Mejbri scored his first goal of the season to make it 2-1, followed by Jaidon Anthony’s equalizer four minutes later. In first-half stoppage time, a header from Bashir Humphreys deflected off goalkeeper Dean Henderson onto Jefferson Lerma’s foot and into the net, completing the turnaround and sending the away fans into raptures.
While the win may not be enough to save Burnley from relegation, it was a huge boost for manager Scott Parker, who had faced angry chants from his own supporters just days earlier.
