Arokodare and Mundle are the latest players to face racial abuse in Football

Wolves striker Tolu Arokodare and Sunderland winger Romaine Mundle are the latest Premier League players to suffer racist abuse on social media.

Arokodare received abusive messages after Wolves’ 1-0 loss to Crystal Palace, where he had a penalty saved before Evann Guessand scored a late winner. Wolves said they were “disgusted” and strongly condemned the behaviour. The Nigeria international said it is shocking that people can send such racism without consequences.

Mundle was also targeted after Sunderland’s 3-1 defeat to Fulham and has reportedly deleted his Instagram account.

The Premier League condemned the abuse and said there will be serious consequences, including bans and possible legal action. Both clubs are working with authorities to identify those responsible.
