West Ham midfielder Lucas Paqueta has returned to his first club, Flamengo, in a permanent deal worth over €41m (£35.5m). The 28-year-old, who came through Flamengo’s youth system, joined West Ham from Lyon in 2022, scoring 23 goals and providing 15 assists in 139 appearances.
Paqueta flew to Brazil earlier this week to finalise the move before the 2 February transfer deadline. While West Ham had considered letting him stay on loan for the rest of the season, Flamengo pushed for a permanent deal, signing him until December 2030.
The Brazil international played 18 Premier League games this season, scoring four goals. West Ham, currently five points from safety, face Chelsea on Saturday.
